‘One51 Aces Speedway Project launch – an inspirational success!’
We are proud to announce that the long awaited launch of the ONE51 Aces Speedway project took place at the famous Bolton Lads and Girls on Thursday 12th March. Event organisers, Belle Vue Speedway, BLGC and of course Smith Metals, were all in attendance to welcome press, patrons, board executives and over 250 excited young people!
The event was opened by professional Belle Vue speedway rider, James Wright, a member of Great Britain’s World Cup squad, who made a spectacular entrance into the club on his track bike – to the amazement of the audience.
Belle Vue’s Operations Director and riding legend, Chris Morton then took the stand to introduce the inspiration behind the innovative new course; designed to educate young people about the world of business using speedway as a real commercial model.
Following Chris was Bolton Lads and Girls Club Chairman, Mike Peers who thanked the event organisers before presiding over the importance of integrating young minds with not only vital business knowledge but life skills also. Lyndsey, BLGC’s session leader then introduced the audience to 7 of the 8 inaugural participants who will be starting the course early next week. Daniel Bolton was not in attendance due to a foot injury. They were welcomed onto the stage by BLGC Patron and Smith Metals, Business Development manager James Cubbon and Speedway rider, James Wright.
The youngsters were then led away to enjoy their 5 minutes of fame in front of the camera, as they posed with the bike and riders for photographs and gave interviews.
As event organisers and the Aces 09 main sponsor, we were amazed by the overwhelming support. Business Development Manager, James Cubbon said:
“The response we’ve had to the ‘Speedway Business Course’ has been overwhelming. I think people have really engaged with the initiative of the scheme and what it means for our local community and for the young people within it.
“I am confident that we can build upon this success and introduce more community led projects in the near future. We’ll definitely be continuing with the Speedway Business Course as the interest from the kids at BLGC has been phenomenal!”
The 7 week course will conclude with a grand presentation evening at Belle Vue’s home stadium, in which the newly savvy young entrepreneurs will impart the knowledge they have acquired over the last several weeks.
We shall keep you posted on the Speedway presentation!
